What is the "gold standard" of education?

What changed

Federal core educational programmes have replaced model programmes in every subject. This is a gold standard for children’s knowledge: a minimum level below which teaching may not fall, wherever a child studies.

Schools may develop their own educational programmes, but their content must not fall below the federal level.

Textbook development

Provisions of this law introducing a new procedure for developing school textbooks took effect earlier. The Ministry of Education commissions textbooks and teaching aids and approves the author team. Exclusive rights to the textbooks belong to the country.

Benefits are being replaced gradually, with a transition period.

What are the benefits?

  • Consistency of knowledge, teaching methods and outcomes.
  • Fewer errors in textbooks. They will also cost less because of savings on authors’ remuneration.
  • Examinations will contain only questions pupils studied throughout their schooling. Parents will not need to spend money on private tutors.
  • Transferring between schools when necessary will become easier.
