The Duma discussed textbook supplies in the regions

At the plenary session on 28 September, State Duma deputies discussed the supply of textbooks to regional schools with Russian Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov. Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin had instructed that the relevant minister be invited.

The Ministry of Education has intensified monitoring and analysis of information from parents and schools, Sergey Kravtsov said. Close cooperation with deputies on this issue continues, the minister added.

“Each enquiry is addressed individually with regions and municipalities, bearing in mind that providing textbooks is a regional responsibility. Local authorities responded promptly to most problems and replenished libraries, buying missing textbooks or obtaining them from municipal reserve stocks,” Sergey Kravtsov noted.

! Deputies also raised the issue of electronic textbooks.

The Education Minister stressed that switching to them is not being considered. Electronic resources only supplement traditional education.
