QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ABOUT SCHOOL ADMISSIONS
When does first-year school registration outside the assigned area close?
Until 5 September 2022, you can apply for first-year school admission outside your assigned area and without preferential entitlement. In most regions this can be done through Gosuslugi. How can you check there whether your child has been admitted to the first year?
Service-status changes appear in your portal account and are emailed to the address in your application. What should you do if admission is refused?
A school may refuse admission if no places remain. You can then contact the local education authorities to place your child in another school. How can a child be transferred to another school?
Contact the new school's administration and obtain confirmation of admission. Provide it to the previous school and collect the documents, then sign an agreement with the new school. Can a child return to school after family-based education?
Yes, at any time during the school year. Can a school interview children before first-year admission?
State schools may not conduct competitive admissions. Future first-year pupils are sometimes tested to identify psychological characteristics. Admission to the first year may be refused only if no places are available.
