A separate register is proposed for persistent maintenance defaulters.
It will contain information on debtors subject to administrative or criminal liability, as well as those who are wanted.
Bailiffs will also cooperate with the Pension and Social Insurance Fund to obtain prompt information about offenders’ employment.
Why is this needed?
During the past year alone, bailiffs handled around 1.5 million child-support enforcement proceedings. More than half remained unfinished.
The explanatory memorandum states that ‘maintenance payments determine the extent to which essential, vital needs of socially vulnerable people—minor children and parents unable to work—are met’.
