At its plenary session on 26 July, the State Duma adopted at third reading law, which provides for an annual quota for inclusive holidays in sanatoriums and camps.
‘Adopting the law will expand holiday opportunities for children with special needs. There are not many specialized camps. Yet it is particularly important for children with disabilities to recover, regain strength and experience new positive emotions. It is wrong for them to remain at home throughout the summer,’ the Speaker of the State Duma said earlier. Vyacheslav Volodin.
He said that, once the amendments take effect, regions will be able to set quotas for inclusive holidays and distribute them among children’s camps, taking into account the availability of the necessary equipment and accommodation conditions.
“The State Duma is systematically developing support measures for families raising children with disabilities. A law has been passed allowing their parents to take up to 24 additional paid days off consecutively once a year, instead of the four days each month previously provided,” Vyacheslav Volodin recalled. “Parents staying in hospital with a child with health limitations who is over four years old can receive a bed and meals free of charge. The State Duma is also considering a bill banning the deduction of debt payments from pensions and benefits paid to children with disabilities.”
"Families raising children with special needs require additional protection. This is a priority for the State Duma," its chairman added.
