Children will learn to work from school age.

This week a bill passed at first reading that will help children understand from an early age the importance and value of work and its role in every area of life.

Under the document, schoolchildren will participate in socially useful work included in the educational programme, with their age and psychophysical characteristics taken into account.

"Both teachers and parents are asking deputies to make labour education an integral part of the school curriculum again," State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin said earlier. "If parents want their child to grow up a true citizen, the child must develop a positive attitude towards work. Only through work can an attitude be fostered towards many issues they will later need to address."

Many of us took turns on classroom duty or decorated the assembly hall for celebrations during our school years. Presenting the bill at the meeting, Mikhail Kisilev, deputy chairman of the State Duma Youth Policy Committee, shared his personal story.
