Some family support measures:

  • monthly benefit for expectant mothers if per capita income does not exceed the subsistence minimum;
  • The one-off childbirth benefit is available to all Russian families, regardless of income or number of children. From 1 February 2021, it amounts to RUB 18,886.32.
  • Monthly childcare benefit until a child reaches one and a half: from 1 February 2021, the minimum amount was 7,082.85 rubles and the maximum 29,600.48 rubles;
  • A monthly payment for a first or second child under 3 for families with per-capita income below twice the subsistence minimum.
  • Monthly benefits for families with children aged three to seven whose per-capita income does not exceed the subsistence minimum;
  • Monthly benefit for children aged eight to seventeen in single-parent families whose per-capita income does not exceed the subsistence minimum.

Maternity capital. From 1 January 2021, maternity capital for the first child is 483,881.83 rubles; if a second is born, another 155,550 rubles will be added. If there was no previous entitlement, the amount will be 639,431.83 rubles.

RUB 450,000 towards a mortgage for large families. Russia has a large-family support programme under which the state provides RUB 450,000 to repay a mortgage fully or partly. Families whose third or subsequent child was born after 1 January 2019 are eligible.

Important!

  • Childbirth payments and compensation are tax-exempt.
  • Parents can claim the standard child tax deduction. This means parents’ personal income tax amount is reduced monthly by 1,400 rubles for the first and second child and 3,000 rubles for the third and subsequent children. The deduction stops in the month when accrued salary exceeds 350,000 rubles.
